The IK Multimedia AXE I/O is first and foremost an audio interface for Windows and Mac with two Hi-Z guitar inputs (incl. switch for line and microphone level), two combined XLR/jack inputs for microphones (incl. phantom power) and five outputs. The special features are designed specifically for guitarists. The input circuit can be switched from PURE to JFET via a switch on the front, allowing a transparent to tube-distorted sound. The patented Z-Tone circuit should also be able to interact with the guitar pickup in order to realise a massive range of sounds. That sounds very exciting! The additional fifth (amp) output, which makes classic "reamping" possible, is also tailored to guitarists. With this feature set, it's no surprise that the interface also works seamlessly with the in-house AmpliTube 4 Deluxe software. There is a preset control on the front of the interface that can switch the amp patches in the software. Expression pedals can also be connected via the two control inputs of the AXE I/O, which in turn communicate with the software. A MIDI I/O rounds off the set. In this respect, guitarists get a really good package.
