Safe and efficient drive swapping
Whether you’re using multiple drives or carrying out archiving, the OWC Drive Dock allows you to swap drives safely. As each hard drive bay has its own power source, you can follow best practice for handling hard drives by switching off the desired bay and waiting for it to shut down before removing it. You can also leave a drive docked in a bay that is not powered to access it immediately, whilst saving power or keeping the drive powered on for several hours.

Upgrading M.2 “Blade” SSDs
After upgrading your device with a higher-capacity NVMe M.2 SSD, such as an OWC Aura, you can repurpose your existing M.2 “Blade” SSD via an M.2-to-U.2 adapter, such as the OWC U2 ShuttleOne, for continued use in the OWC Drive Dock. Alternatively, purchase a new M.2 drive and use the OWC U2 ShuttleOne to create a high-performance, cost-effective U.2 SSD that can be hot-swapped at will within the OWC Drive Dock.

- Move backup data to an offline location using an OWC U.2 solution for backup workflows.

- Capture stunning 12K RAW video onto a 2.5-inch U.2 SSD using a Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K and an URSA Mini Recorder. You can then quickly and easily read and back up your files using the OWC Drive Dock. Alternatively, install the U.2 drive into an OWC U.2 desktop or rack-mount solution to get the very best performance from a Thunderbolt-based editing workflow.

- Using an NVMe M.2-to-2.5-inch U.2 SSD adapter such as the OWC ShuttleOne (sold separately).
