Safe and efficient swapping
Whether you are using many drives or archiving, the OWC Drive Dock allows you to safely swap drives. Since each hard drive bay has its own power source, you can follow best practices for handling hard drives by switching off the bay you want to use and waiting until it shuts down before removing it. You can also leave a drive docked in an unpowered bay for immediate access while you conserve power or switch the drive on for several hours.

Upgrade M.2 "Blade" SSDs again
After upgrading your device with a higher capacity NVMe M.2 SSD, such as an OWC Aura, you can repurpose your existing M.2 "blade" SSD for further storage use in the OWC Drive Dock via an M.2 to U.2 adapter, such as the OWC U2 ShuttleOne. Or purchase a new M.2 drive and use the OWC U2 ShuttleOne to create a high-performance, low-cost U.2 SSD that can be hot-swapped in the OWC Drive Dock at will.
